Talisker 8 Year Old 2020 Special Release. Image courtesy Diageo. This 2020 Special Releases expression is one of the youngest age-statement Talisker releases on record, and is also the first Talisker distillery release to be finished in Caribbean Rum casks. The nose has a good balance of sweetness and maritime notes with brine and seaweed complemented by grilled fruits and hints of brown sugar and molasses cookies. The taste is peppery at first with hints of tree fruits and brine in the background and a subtle hint of driftwood campfire smoke for a luscious and well-rounded flavor. Adding water opens up a fruity character on the palate while not drowning out the spices. The finish is long, spicy, and complex with hints of fruits and seaside notes. Wow! (October, 2020)
